Requirements
- Interest is calculated daily on the whole account balance and paid annually on 30 November. The applicable tier applies to the whole balance, not separate portions.
- No monthly deposit-count, qualifying deposit-dollar, balance-growth, purchase or withdrawal-count bonus interest test is established. No introductory offer or upper interest-rate cap is stated for the reviewed schedule. The current terms specify no minimum opening or ongoing balance.
- No account service fee. The current fee brochure charges $5 for a branch cash withdrawal, with that fee waived from 1 November through 31 December. Internet, phone and mobile banking transactions and branch transfers are listed as free where those facilities are available. Other service charges may apply.
- The current terms and CDR identify the normal digital withdrawal access period as 1 November through 31 December. Withdrawals outside this period are allowed under the terms, but a charge may apply. The current TMD describes withdrawals from November through January. Confirm January availability, digital access and any fee directly with TCU. Do not assume January withdrawals are free.
- Seasonal access and transaction fees are separate from interest qualification. No fixed rolling notice period, forced early closure or monthly withdrawal allowance is established. The current account summary lists no debit card, ATM, EFTPOS, BPAY or direct-debit access, but permits direct credits and limited digital access.
- Membership requires a refundable $2 share. The share is a joining requirement, not a monthly account fee. Account opening is through TCU branches or its call centre under the TMD, confirm local access and service hours.
Fees
- Monthly account fee: $0
Showing reviewed fees only, other charges may apply
How to apply
Check these eligibility requirements before applying with TCU.
- TCU membership and identity checks are required. The current TMD targets current and future members who reside in remote Aboriginal communities and want to save for a specific purpose. This does not establish a separate ethnicity requirement, confirm eligibility with TCU.
- Applicants must be at least 13 under the current general terms, which restrict account holders under 13 to the Child Account. No upper age limit is established for Christmas Club. A universal Australian citizenship or permanent-residency requirement is not stated in the reviewed documents.
