Requirements

  • No introductory pricing or regular monthly account-keeping fee. New members opening a savings account automatically receive an Everyday Direct transaction account, its regular monthly account fee is also zero. Other service/transaction fees may apply.
  • Interest calculated daily on cleared end-of-day balances using the annual rate divided by 365, and credited on or about the last day of each month. Rates apply to balance portions, not the highest tier on the whole balance.
  • Deposits above $5,000,000 in aggregate across savings and transaction accounts are subject to bank acceptance. A single comparison balance does not establish the customer’s aggregate deposits.
  • Deposit a total of at least $100 before 5pm Sydney time on the last calendar day of the month, make no withdrawals or transfers out (internal or external), and maintain a credit balance throughout the month. An overdraft at any time can prevent qualification. No purchase or separate balance-growth test.
  • If qualification fails, the standard base rate applies. A withdrawal after the last-day 5pm cut-off will generally count in the following month and can affect that month’s bonus.
  • The current linked Savings & Investments rate flyer, effective 1 October 2026, establishes bonus portions up to $250,000, over $250,000 through $1,000,000, and over $1,000,000. It governs the conflicting extra-cent CDR boundaries and the website fragment’s over-$1,000,000.01 wording. Original source labels remain signed, only arithmetic boundaries are corrected. The final portion earns its advertised base plus bonus, not the first-tier headline on the whole balance.
  • Qualification timing: Requirements are assessed in the current month. Check the settlement deadlines and exclusions in the requirements.

Fees

  • Monthly account fee: $0

Showing reviewed fees only, other charges may apply

How to apply

Check these eligibility requirements before applying with Teachers Mutual.

  • Australian citizen or permanent resident, Australian residential address and satisfactory identity checks. Standard membership eligibility covers education-sector employees/retirees, Australian education students/graduates and immediate family of Teachers Mutual Bank members.
  • The website also advertises a non-shareholding customer application route. Confirm that route’s eligibility with the bank, it does not remove the account-specific age/student or pension conditions. Related UniBank, Firefighters Mutual and Health Professionals feeds are separate brands, not automatically covered.
